im no watermelon growing expert by any means, but i did manage to grow one last year, just one! i started it in a pot,in the greenhouse, and then planted it inside the greenhouse, trained it up canes, and ended up with one fruit a little bigger than a fist.tasted  gorgeous! this year am going to do the same, but on a mound of manure, still inside. like i said,im not an expert but just wanted to share my experience!

I grew mine outside sprawling across the ground.
If you train it up canes, you will need to support the fruits.

I'm amazed that such a scrawny plant can produce such large fruits.

Trying them for the first time this year, Watermelon Sugar Baby, will try a couple inside my greenhouse and a couple outside, covering all bases in the hope of getting a crop.

I could send you a few seeds if you want, PM me if you are interested.

i tried for the first time last year, and was clueless as to what to do,so just left it to it in the dis-used greenhouse.
Well i ended up with plants all over the g/house and three fruits about the size of a tennis ball  ;D.
I`ll try again this year, but will treat the plants the same as a tomato, allowing only so much growth, and only so many flowers, and stems, with added support for the developing fruit.
Again i am wearing big red L plates over this one,so any advice welcome.

                      Regards.

The only watermelon I have ever had success with is Blacktail Mountain.

They taste amazing and produce a fruit about the size of a typical iceburg lettuce head.
