Are these different things from Rugosa?

Those bizarre formed fruits are suitable hevorragend for decorating and tinkering.  ;D

it means you can dry and polish them for decorations

Hmm...so is the Real seeds crookneck different from but just visually similar to this

Summer crookneck squashes are delicious. They make a wonderful soup.

I have grown both one bends back on it's self  as the picture the other doesn't.
I did find perfect but hollow Rugosa 'shells' on compost  last week, very Quatermass.
