Title: daft question about PFA

I know it seems like a daft question, but as a potato newbie, I am wondering which way is "up" when planting pink fir apples as  have eyes everywhere!  I'm presuming they go in "landscape" rather than "portrait?

Well I have grown what seems like millions of PFA and I just lay them in flat so to speak. ;D

Gone off them now and none of the family are keen.Think I grew too many LOL  ;D

Gave up on PFA during the recent plague of blight years - it's so much easier to grow earlies and get them well clear before the blight. Apart from freeing up useful space for leeks and the various chinese greens.

I'd like to try PFA's offspring the early "Anya" but I've yet to see them at a sensible price (I won't pay more than £1.50 a kilo when I can get Charlotte for £1 a kilo).

Sainsbury's sometimes have them on a two packs for the price of one offer.  In fact they often seem to have various heritage potatoes - good to try them out.

I'm trying them again this year, but it's been a while since I had a crop. I just drop them into the holes; I don't see the point in worrying about which way up a potato is. It comes up just the same.

Vinlander, Brookside Nurseries near Leicester sell all seed potatoes, including Anya, at 1.25 a kilo, probably a bit late for this year tho.......

im trying pfa for the first time this year and was wondering which way up they go in but now i know....thanx.

I've given up on PFA and Anya. Crops too small, potatoes too lumpy and hard, take too long in the ground, much prefer Charlotte. But I've made a mistake in trying to store Charlotte.....chitting like mad inside  their bags.

This year I will eat them first.
