I guess it went against the no adverts rule.  Although the aims seemed laugable enough it was really just a commercial operation.  No real need for it really what with Landshare..

Edit - One thread has gone - one just above this!

There were two threads, it sounds as though one was removed.

Second one's just gone!  In fairness, the poster in question wasn't aware of the advertisement rule and asked to be pointed in the direction of who deals with that :)

Thats a bit heavyhanded removing all the posts without telling people. Why not just edit out the advertising bits.

........because the post would have made no sense at all?

There was more than one post removed. There was other information and links removed that werent advertsing. I saw a thread the other night where posts were removed but the people were told about it and told why. Noone told me why my posts in these threads have been removed.

Presumably because the whole thread related to the advertisement. I help moderate another board, and I'd have removed an equivalent thread there.
