Stolen this idea from the beeb board.
How about a thought for the day. Shall we start tomorrow Monday.
Great idea Rosebud. :D
Eileen.
Having lost two of my friends recently to cancer, my thought for today is:
'Don't take life for granted, appreciate your loved ones and your friends'
Pat
Thought for the day "Smile at everyone" they will only think you`v lost the plot. ;D No seriously.
Say I Love You to your loved ones every day.
"We're just here to fart around" - Kilgore Trout
If you must have an aim in life, make it to be the most "you" you can possibly be.
;DDear God if I can't be thin, please make all my friends fat. ;D
Give them the flowers now! :)
Oh Val, not only do I love your avatar, but that just about sums me up! ;D
You can't make someone fall in love with you... you can only stalk them and hope for the best.
I hope this is not too inappropriate. I can't remember if I'm posting to the Shed, the Watershed or another thread started by Rosebud.
Copied from someone on the irb.com forum....
I think it's from a us comedienne originally...
After the lovely pics of those veterans on the Remembrance Day feature yesterday - if you were 'getting on in life' & you were told that you were going to live to 108, how would you approach it?? Without those who have been a part of your life for so long? = Tim
carpe diem
From the Remembrance Day service we went to on Sunday, the philosophy of one old soldier who lived a full life after returning from the war until being diagnosed with terminal cancer. "I'm lucky,to have had 45 years more than many of the men I fought with" .Life is a gift, treasure it.
Emma..me too, its thanks to Pat[Garden girl] I've got an avatar at all,its taken me months...CL..so true...
Few things are more satisfying than seeing your children with teenagers of their own.
My thought for today SHARE YOUR LAUGHTER.
A grandmother is a little bit parent,
A little bit teacher
And a little bit best friend.
Even in a pile of manure, a flower will grow. ;)
;DWe're all made from the same mould, only some are mouldier than others.
If your family live in the same city/area, enjoy it. There's nothing quite like being able to see your family on a regular basis ;D
My parents and grandparents live in Australia, I now live here in the UK, and my sister lives in the USA, and I don't think any of us realised how wonderful it was when we were all within 15 minutes drive of each other.
Nothing famous of poetically written, but from my own experience my thought for everyday is....
Tell them you love them, never leave feelings unsaid. One day they are gone, and you don't want to be left with regrets.
ooo, was a bit poetic afterall.
As a family, we have always been open and honest with eachother, and we all know how much we are loved, and what is going on in our lives, and we laugh and cry together. When dad died, none of us felt like there was something we should have said. He died knowing we all love him, and that the dentist had told me just that day that I had excellent oral hygene! ;D ;D ;D
When I was about 10, I got a Snoopy mug filled with sweeties for my Christmas. The sweeties didn't last long, but the mug is still in use. Snoopy advises: "Life is too short not to live it up a little!". Very good advice.
;DWe're not here for a long time, we're for a good time, ay Spurdie? ;D
Old age is not bad when you consider the alternatives.
lol. so true.
You said it Val! ;D It's best not to take life too seriously. You have to be able to laugh at yourself, as well as with others.
;DIf life is a garden, friends are the flowers. ;D
Dont fall out with the family ;D You never know when you may need a kidney donor ;D
Those who can DO.
Those who cannot are in the majority.
The spiritual eyesight improves
as the physical eyesight declines.
;DHappiness is chocolate cake, angels singing and more cake.....yum
Being a grandmother is our last chance to act like a kid,
Without being accused of being in our second childhood. ;D
