Title: Laptop hinges
Post by: macmac on March 31, 2010, 14:27:07
My daughters friend has got a lap top quite old but works fine, the problem is the hinges have got a bit twisted and it won't close properly. They took it to a computer repair place who said it couldn't be repaired so to keep it open all the time :(
Any suggestions ???

It depends what the make/model is, some hinges are fixed to the lid and screwed into the base. If she has one of these type then she might be able to get a cheap lid casing of ebay/internet and swap the screen over or take it back to the computer repair place and ask them to do it.

I've Frankenstiened a few laptops in my time and nilly71 is right but it does depend where the damage is.  If the mounting is bent on the body then it probably is a goner.  Laptops do tend to get damaged - if she only uses it at home its not really an issue..
