I have onions planted in a seed tray, I also have 4 diiferent types of leeks in identical trays, they have all germinated. All 4 types of leeks are standing up tall like soldiers, the onions are still green and healthy but look droopy, they all germinated at the same time. It is not water neither too little or two much, the light is good, they all got planted in the same new potting soil and they are not cold. I must admit I used to use a deeper tray in the UK but the leeks don't seem to mind. So why? Of course it would be the very rare ones I can't afford to lose, the leeks are nothing special.

I've not had great success with growning onions from seed but my second attempt this year produced an initial limp leaf. I'm wondering if it's a type of seed leaf as a second one has now emerged and this is growing straight.
I'll join you in waiting for the onion experts ;)

I used to have the same worry, but I've noticed that stronger leaves eventually arrive.
By late April they look strong and go out into the big wide world...
...then they suffer..
OK thankyou I have never seen them quite like this before, it may be because there is very few in the tray..XX Jeannine
