Title: Ezethas Krombek Blauwschok
Post by: Robert_Brenchley on March 19, 2010, 15:27:44
Can anyone translate? I presume Ezetha was the breeder, and I believe 'blauwschok' means 'blue-podded', or purple podded as we call them. But what's a krombek when it's at home?

its a purplepodded pea, coming from the krombek region of SA. Actually its listed a a heritage vaariety oringinating from Holland, however with the Dutch connections with South AFrica, it could be either. Ive seen the purple podded peas in SA>

Thanks. I never thought it might refer to somewhere in SA, but as you say it makes sense.

I was sold it as a mangetout - I liked the idea of being able to pick the purple pods quickly even near dusk (which is when I usually want them).

Does it perform?
