Blackbirds that have Chicks to feed, will take your Newts
i have watched this happen for many years.
Keep your Blackbirds well fed, they might just leave your Newts alone??

I have yet to see any of "my" newts on my plot this year. Also haven't seen any slow worms yet :-\
Not seem any newt eating blackbirds, only frog eating herons and fish eating moorhens >:(

I see... you're talking mushrooms not frogs!
fine net round the side of the pond will keep the blackbirds from eating all of your frogs / newts tadpoles ;)
