I don't drink coke but I do use it. When I china paint it makes a lovely outline for filling in, then it burns off in the kiln..the diet doesn't work it has to be the sugared one. The real thing works a treat for artists!! XX Jeannine
Hummm..I better cut down drinking 2-3 cans of diet coke a day.. ::) This means Caffine with drawals too I presume..
Before you post these sorts of claims you really should check out the Snopes Urban Myth pages.
http://www.snopes.com/cokelore/acid.asp
By the way, the last time I drank coke was from a glass bottle when I was mid teens, say 50 years ago?
I do like the odd bottle/glass/can of coke and/or diet coke. I never take much notice of these things that are said because as Palustris has pointed out, people have been drinking it consistently over a long period of time and are still going strong. It can also be said for a lot of things that people scaremonger about these days too methinks :-\
(I do prefer water though!)
I think I will have to start drinking diet coke......
'psychoaddictive caffeine' sounds so much more exciting then the caffeine in my coffee ;D
Also forgot to mention that the Mythbusters TV programme had a go at many of these Coke 'myths' and disproved most of them.
I was talking about water v coke with a friend today. When I lived in the UK we drank loads of sugar free orange squash and I bought about 30 litres over with me. This did eventually run out so I tried the French syrups... yuk, your teeth seem to rot as you drink it. Our water is direct from a bore hole in our garden and tastes lovely. Now all of us drink tonnes of water and never miss the squash. My parents have bought squash over and stayed in the cupboard for months. It is amazing how your tastes change.
There is a localled made Breton cola which is yum. I try not to buy it often as I do rather like it. Just a treat now and then. I think my mums theory on coke being really bad for you must have rubbed off on me ::)
Oh Dutch Geneva,,,that brought back memories.. better kept to myself though but thank you for the reminder XX Jeannine
What a load of tosh.
Please quote your sources. Otherwise they are totally meaningless urban myths.
As said before all the coke claims were disproved by experimentation on Mythbusters. Even the dissolving of teeth that is the usual one to be quoted but was missing from this list.
Re. the dying of various forms of cancer or whatever. How did they retrospectively test these people who were dying to show they were dehydrated to cause them to contract cancer. Did they test for dehydration 10 years ago then discover those that were dehydrated got cancer?
Incidentally I hate Coke.
