This morning I dug out the compost bin and had two delightful friends constantly distracting me whilst doing it! :)

I have also got a robin that always watches me work and keeps me company. Keep forgetting to take my camera to allotment, but when I do take it there is nothing to take a photo of and when it is left at home all the animals and birds come to visit. Perhaps they are camera shy.
That's good to get two in one picture Flighty. :D
Borlotti although I always take my camera to the plot it's often in the shed when I need it or my hands are muddy! :)
Pauline this is the first year that I've seen a pair like this on the allotments. Apparently they can be told apart as male ones have a brown U shaped forehead and the females V shaped ones and are slighty smaller.
Wonderful - now I shall be checking to see if my two are a pair or not. In your photo you can see quite clearly the V and U shapes on their heads. Thanks for the info. Flighty 8).

I had a Robin follow me around the plot today ......it sat on my fork handle and watched me dig over a bed waiting for worms. It wasn't bothered about me being around. They seem such friendly birds.

More likely hungry and not scared of you. Strange thing is, their natural habitat is dense woodland, where they're shy and not easy to see.
My mate Robin always watches me at close quarters when I'm digging at the lottie and there's one in the back garden who's becoming a regular. ;D ;D ;D
That was good managing to get 2 in one picture.
I have 3 Robins in my garden, each with their own territory, one at the kitchen side, one at the front and one down the sides. Two meet to argue over the seed but the Kitchen one gets to eat by himself. However, I found a dead Robin this morning. Conservatory door accident, poor wee thing.
