Title: Strawberries in hanging pouches
Post by: mpdjulie on March 02, 2010, 09:15:50
I received a small booklet from TM yesterday with a £5 off voucher attached.  I would like to buy some strawberry seeds/runners/plants and grow them in home made hanging pouches.  Can anyone advise me of a variety that would be okay to do this with please?

Some years ago I bought trailing strawberries specially for hanging baskets, I assume they still do them. However I wouldn't say that they were worth the extra cost and would use any variety, just go for taste, Cambridge favourite always does well in taste tests.

I've grown Sarian F1 and Florian F1 for the last couple of years, both from seed I picked up in Wyevales seed sale. Very pleased with both, one white flowered one pink. A fair production of really tasty and sweet fruit, I've got mine in a polytunnel and they have a really good long season.
