Title: peach progress
Post by: grawrc on February 23, 2010, 21:35:04
The flowers on my peach tree have been replaced with little green marbles - peaches!! What excitement! So when do I thin them and do they need fed?

oooh, you are lucky, our outdoor ones are fleeced, they have buds on but not opening yet  ;D
can't help with the thinning bit but all our fruit trees are getting chicken manure pellets this year, probably beginning of march, weather permitting  :)

I wouldn't thin them until they are somewhere between a two-ey marble and a golf ball, as they are quite likely to drop a few fruit themselves. Last year I accidentally cut off two peaches at once. Devastated, it halved my crop.

Thank you both. I'll leave off till March with the fertiliser then and possibly longer with the pruning.
