Title: mexican sour (mousemelon/Melothria) and "west indian" gherkins
Post by: tai haku on February 16, 2010, 20:43:15
Has anyone grown either the mexican sour gherkin (Melothria scabra) aka mouse melon or sandita or the "west indian" gherkin aka burr cucumber? I got both for this year (Real seeds advertise both but sold out of the Melothria which I got from my local garden centre) and they sound simple enough but I thought I'd check the hive mind for any past experience. I'd be particularly keen to hear when people started them as they both sound slowish starters.

I grew West Indian gherkin in a greenhouse. I started them at the same time as my cukes (whenever that was) and got a serious crop by the end of summer.
