I am in the middel of a spot of 'housekeping' on my PC - in effect i am trying to get a fresh start with it without formatting the HDD. I have been working on removing software I no longer need or forgot I had downloaded and installed. I have noticed though that uninstalling is not enough as 'bits and pieces' of files and software still get left behind. Windows has also become somewhat unstable so i am guessing that there are issiues in the Registry. I had a look on a download site for free cleanup software, but wasnt sure what to go for. I was wondering if there was a particular one that was good and worth trying that does what i want to do
I have downloaded 'CCleaner' and 'Wise Disc Cleaner 4 Free' but havent installed them yet. Are either of these worth trying?
Thanks
The new Love of my Life (?!) was here this arvers cleaning up my laptop pc and CCleaner was one of the things he installed. I heart that man (or have I said that before?) 8)
CCleaner is good, dont know about the other one. Check that you havent got two antivirus programs running as this causes problems.
Worth running a disk error check and defrag after you have done your uninstalling (right click on C drive - properties - tools)
I use windows advanced system care which is a free microsoft download.
also clam and avg antivirus programs
