He was a great designer-I have a pair of his shoes. RIP
What a shame that you can feel so low. RIP xxx
Especially when it could be perceived you have the perfect life, no money worries, doing what you love for a living...so sad. Suicide is the saddest thing. :(

I agree it is for those left behind. In my experience, a family member and a close friend, in both cases I'd say they abdicated responsibility and left the rest of us to pick up the pieces. They had their reasons no doubt but I still think it's a very selfish act.

But surely the people who do this must be very depressed and are not really responsible for their actions ?
Well of course depression is a mental illness but I'd have to leave the 'responsibility for their actions' to an expert.

R.I.P so sad, sorry for his family,a great talent gone

WOW!! 8)
I hadn't noticed this thread here. So very sad that he's gone ( even if he
was responsible for the trousers-at-half-mast fashion ;) ;D )
Hehe they are gorgeous!
..think youz'n'me should start a shoe thread just for us, Em..saw some smashing shoes online last night & was about to reach for my plastic til reality kicked in - best to have another look when I've not had a couple of glasses of red ::) So, that's now. But first I've gotta check my wardrobe.do I actually have anything to wear with purple and pink shoes?
(or do I have to buy some clothes as well?...)
But they are SO lovely (sigh)
whats the link so we can all drool ;D
Here's the link - 1st pair of shoes on show - if the link doesn't work, Google helenbateman.com (I think - got the site in my faves & look for the purple suede ones - you can't miss 'em! )
http://www.helenbateman.com/index.php
now then...granny shoes for a 2010 granny, or wot? 8)
(when I am old, I shall wear purple..)
;D
PS they're called Venca
oh oh oh lovely! i think you need to start wearing purple now, never mind waiting till youre old!
Elvis, I'm already 60+cough-cough-mutter-mutter-something, no way I'm gonna wait til I'm even older ;D
Note the sensible lace-up design, then?
Perfeck'....
Such a shame. Grief is one of the hardest things to cope with.
The hardest thing I had to do in my life was to tell my grandmother that my mother had died. Made harder still by the fact that my grandmother had already lost four of her six children.
The grief and pain of losing her husband and children, I swear has helped make her mentally ill.
My gran will be 90 this year.
I'm not at all sure of my facts here cos I don't read gossip columns, but I'm sure I picked up somewhere that his mother died quite recently and that his (female) work partner & long-time friend died last year. I don't know if he had a 'partner' as such (he was gay) but I'm sure that anyone who knew him, family or friends, will be feeling his loss now and wondering..just wondering...if they could have helped him had they picked up on any signals.
I think Mr McQueen would thoroughly approve of shoes taking over the subject of his thread!
Hyacinth-they are so beautiful! How can you resist??? I would love to be a shoe designer! I adore shoes (and bags) -they are such a weakness. If I see a pair I really want I am obsessed by them and invent occasions where I would absolutely need them, which of course justifies the immediate purchase. ::)
These are my latest-only Dotty P's cheap and cheerful but diviiiine...I can't walk in them but I love them. They are my lollipop shoes which I have wanted ever since reading Chocolat. ;D

Love red shoes, me - great choice.

I love shoes, I love shoes, I love shoes,
No matter how lardy I am feeling I can always buy shoes, I loves them I does
Lushy x
'tis a sad day here :'( (despite going out for a DanDare-style cow pie- they only cut off the horns'n'the'hooves?- at the local, a bit earlier...bl.lovely it was)
Back now to do the job I started earlier this morning..gotta firm rule - 1 out before 1 in? - and I emptied my shoe wardrobe..yep! standard 2-door wardrobe with the box bit on top, main body taking 5 of those poly-pocket hanging thingys, 8-9 pr per thingy and top bit filled with shoes-in-boxes?
But how can I throw any away?
Do you think 1pr of flip-flops = 1 pair of new shoes? Yep, they're old and tatty but oh! so comfortable, and anyway, I bought them in Thailand so they've got Memories associated, too.
Decisions, decisions.. :'( :) ;D

Nope, they don't. As Eliza Doolittle would say.."Walk? Not bloody likely, I'm going in a taxi." ;D
I think they are 4 and 1/2 inches but the platform sole makes it not so bad...she says!
