Sinbad
brought some memories back and made me smile- thank you!
I like that, one inaccuracy though, we didn't get a tv until I was 8 so no-one was playing a tv when I was born ;D
Hey me too Mal. First telly in 1958.
Reminded me of my sister's Dansette record player and Pat Boone (he made her swoon!).
Most of the electric and electronic stuff we take for granted now didn't exist when I was born.
But NATO and MAo in my birth year!! Cooell! 8) 8) 8)
My father's hobby was building radio and tv sets - from scratch.
We lived fairly near Alexander Palace. (Hornsey) 'Ally Pally' was already transmitting a TV programme in the 40s, Dad had a set up and running (9"screen) in about 1947/8.
Welcome to my era!!
The 1920s were indeed a special decade. The roaring twenties, the golden twenties, the Jazz age. There was economoic prosperity in many, but not all, parts of the world. Communism began attracting many followers. The Soviet Union was born. There was a devastating Wall Street crash. The Ku Klux Klan saw growth, and acceptance, in the US. Egypt officially became independent from the British Empire. In the US, alcohol is prohibited.
So glad we glad sense!!
;D

My mum has never quite forgiven me - if I'd been born 4 days earlier, coronation day, she'd have got a free pram from the local co-op........
Pity it's so American....
My point exactly, Trevor, you beat me too it. No mention of the Munich air crash in 1958...pah. :(
