While some of my varieties are easy, some are extremely difficult to decide which way up to put them.
Vanessa is particularly confusing: seems to have eyes at both ends. Or maybe the back of its head.
Has anyone a good method of telling which way up to put them?
I always put them upwards with the strongest shoot - but sometimes if they have good shoots at both ends I leave them on their sides to happen either end!

Look for the point where the seed tuber was severed from the parent plant!
This is the bottom of the potato and the rose end where the chits emerge from isat the other.
To put it another way; sit the tuber on the node described and all should be OK
I think I am a bit of a failure I had several of the potatoes the wrong way up!!!
I always get some the wrong way up... ::)
Had to turn quite a few of ours yesterday. Anya were the worst.

But they're quite a lot like Pink Fir Apples.... nodes all along the tuber rather than concentrated at one end.
