I brought some seeds back from Thailand to the UK a couple of years ago.

They grew tall here too and looked fantastic but they were slow to developing and our climate did not give them enough time to produce cobs.

It is a case of getting the seeds to suit the climate they are to be grown in.

A hot house may help but frankly it is not worth it for food but if you are hobby growing. It is a bit of fun.
