If you didn't have a lottie who wouldn't you have met ?
Several people in my case in particular two people -one wonderful woman JJJ a retired medic, practicing magistrate and wonderful grandparent. This lovely person lights up our life whenever we meet she makes us laugh and I feel the need to embrace her in a hug everytime. The other is a retired man with a wicked sense of humour R.T.B. he "paints a plot" with a spade, a saw,a length of wood two absolutely wonderful people ,who,if we hadn't entered the gates of our site we might never have met...........
Who have you met on the lottie that you wouldn't have met in the real world ?
Everyone on here for a start! :)
My plot neighbours Joe and his brother-in-law George who are Italian and have magical green fingers. Others include Trevor, who's a middle aged hippy, and Irish Brian.
Then there's most of the people at the trading hut on Sunday mornings.
There's no doubt that most allotmenteers/gardeners are a great crowd to know! :)
Flighty I can't believe I'd forgotten the good folk on this forum, they've made laugh, they've made me cry and Saturday nights in the shed............ ;)
too many to mention! of course, all here and all on our site,so many wonderfully diverse characters,so friendly, funny and helpful.... plus getting to know folks from sites all over the city through being involved with the local nsalg fed, some i would count as mates now
i have met a range of really nice down to earth people all with diffrent tales to tell of allotment life, well and life in genral.
over the christmas break one of the old fellas died, having a brocken ankle i have not got to the allotment much so i heared through the allotment grape vine,it was really sad news, this old fella was on a neighbouring plot and stuck to the traditional way of doing things, and very often told me my new fangled ways wouldnt work.
in the 3years i have been there i have met some fantastic people, and when you lose someone due to ill health or just unable to keep there plot, its a bit of your allotment community gone which i think is really sad.
while i have been out of action with my cast on,ihave also met some great people through a4a,and following the threads and comments has made a big diffrence.
what a great bunch allotment/gardeners are
I wouldn't have met lots of lovely people both on here and at the allotment, and Duke! She only lives along the road from me and I had never met her, despite knowing her husband, until we got our allotments, I am so glad we did! :) :)
good grief, so many,
at the plot, 17 friends, maybe more if you count spouses/family/friends, most of them lovely people,
from here, lots face to face, again, all nice people, plus people on here who I've never met but, nevertheless are nice people and make me laugh ;D
must put in a word for my friend, emaggie, never met but, when we were visiting family near to her, offered us a room with full board, amazing lady, thanks, Maggie ;D
Tulipa you are making me blush now ;D thank you ....and I am so happy to have met you too !! Its a strange world as you said we wouldn't have met if it wasn't for our allotments. We are now ladies that lunch!! :D
There are so many nice people on this forum too!! Sometimes you just connect with people even though I haven't met them.
:-[ :-[ And I keep you from getting your work done because I talk too much! :-[ :-[

I have been gardening behind the fence for many years and suddenly I have found a whole host of like minded people. Its great.
and this thread brought us together too!
But for this forum and the wonderful freely given love and support I don't know how I could have survived my dear husband's sudden death. http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/smf/index.php/topic,30976.0.html

So many great folk that i promise myself I'll meet and hug sometime. Some that I met only a few weeks after Peter died - ironically at Barnsdale , home of Geoff Hamilton who, I believe, had a very similar death.

Oh and water or ice in your dram?
Haha, dram, lucky if we can drink shandy, all the drugs ;D
