I want to start rotavating but it still very wet down my way
will i do damage to the soil if its still wetish
Dont know about damage but you will end up in a right mess if its wet, I would wait til it dries up a bit to be honest
if the mud sticks to your boots leave it alone, you will do more damage than good. :)
Believe me you're only as half as frustrated now as you're going to be, I'm not that far from you and last year I waited until a few days before I went away for a two week holiday at Easter before i could dig. i got a little bit done and by the time I got back the soil had dried to the consistency of concrete...not surprising really because it's like wet concrete when it's wet. There is a small window of opportunity.

Think of this for the future!
Dig at the end of the season not the start.
I like to get dug before winter sets in then I don't have to concern myself about it till around April

I try do as much as possible at season end but this year I lost all the dry weekends to first aid courses so I have a lot of preperation to do before potato planting. I don't have a rotavator either. At the moment we seem to have had a few weeks of dry Monday-Thursday and then rain on Friday.
hi
