Nasty.
Chicken noodle soup?
Get well soon.
Ray is in soup mode as we speak, had scotch broth for lunch, don't really want to eat, should shift some weight, anyway ;D
Oh dear Manics, i do hope you get well pretty soon. All the very best to you. Take it easy. BIG hugs coming your way ;D ;D ;D.
Get Well Soon Manics.
Poor you :(
thank you for the good wishes, just wish i could stop with the shivering!
still, doc has given me anti-biotics too, for the complications :-\
It sounds nasty, poor you. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Hope you will soon be feeling better manics, look after yourself.
Anne
eak wrap up and stay warm hon - take care
Take care of yourself girl, you'll soon fight it off. :-* ;D ;D ;D
someone lend me some boxing gloves, it's gonna take more than vitamin c to fight this one ;D
Ohh, take it easy plenty of rest and Vit C, hubby swears by Lemsip with Whiskey !!
We seem to have had our fair share of bugs this winter, usually brought home from school by our eldest son ::) (not had nits yet tho, touch wood)
Loss of appetite, shivers and going hot/cold were the simptoms of one of ours, kids had no energy for 2 days, was weird seeing the house so tidy !!
I'd recommend bed - with a large bottle of brandy and a pile of veggie porn.
Get well soon manics :-*
Oh poor you. So sorry. Take care of yourself ...correction... RAY GET HER BETTER SOON!!!!!! Big hugs from me. Lots of soup, paracetamol, antibiotics and hot toddies!!!!!

My two had it and it is not fun at all. It was the tiredness after the illness that worried me most. Loads of sleep and tlc and hopefully you will feel better in soon. Your body is designed to cope with illness so listen to it and don't do too much to soon. Eat only what you feel like and take care x
Sorry to hear you have swine flu Manics. Get well soon.

Get well soon :-*/ shades x
:'(
Aww poor you! Take the drugs and sleep lots, you'll be back on the plot before you know it!
;)
Get well soon Manics. Take care.
Manics, poor you. Do as you are told & take it easy. Sambucol is a good one for flu, a nice tasting immune stimulant. I think it's from elderberries.
thanks,
everyone, thank God for the internet, means I can keep in touch with my family without passing it on..lots of fluid, only had scrambled eggs for tea, will have some rice krispies with my pills before bed, hopefully I'll have a better night's sleep tonight, Ray's doing an amazing job, I'll make him a proper shopping list tomorrow, he comes home with all sorts if I don't ;D
gotta be better next wednesday, picking the new car up :)
sorry to hear you are unwell manics, eat only what and if you fancy (unless youre diabetic) but plenty of oral fluids, cool squashes etc will help with a temp, regular paracetamol +/- ibuprofen for temperature too
chill out and hopefully you will feel better soon plenty of rest too dont race to get up and run around too quickly
best wishes
debs ;D
Get well from me too......there's nothing worse than feeling ill :-[
Sorry to hear you are unwell Manics. Hope you are better soon.
Poor you. :(
Get well soon.
G x
Bummer, Mal. You have my deepest sympathies. I've got a cold and that's frustrating enough. Keep taking the tablets and don't even think about doing anything until you are well enough. Glad Ray is being a good slave, just dare him to catch it ;D
Get well very soon. :-*
Hope you feel better soon ..... remember plenty of fluids! :)
OOOh Mal, I read Debs' advice....
plenty of oral fluids
thank the Lord it's only oral ones she suggest you take - an enema as a cure seemed a bit of a bummer to me ::) - seems Emaggie thinks so too ;D
Hope you have a good night tonight and please, please Get Well Soon.
Love from afar!
Lish X
Take it easy, Manics, and get well really soon. :-* :-* :-*
Poor Manics - get well soon, but let Ray spoil you while you feel so rotten.
Tricia
I had it in July. You have my sympathy.
Don't let them give you tamiflu. its does little or no good and has some potentially very nasty side effects.
Blimey, get better soon.........I don't know why, but I always crave mashed potatoes with mint sauce when I'm ill......there must be a method in my madness somewhere! ::) ;D
Hope you had a good night manics.
My son had swine flu over christmas, poor lad, but i would say take the Tamiflu, he picked up quite a bit once it got working, and the sickness subsided as he got used to it.
Ray sounds to be doing a wonderful job, bless him. Like others have said plenty of fluids is the best thing.
Deb mashed potato is wonderful comfort food, tinned rice pudding too. When we had all the furore about swine flu in the summer I put together a box of goodies we might need, lemsip, strepsils, lucozade etc and rice pudding! :-[ :-[ It did come in useful!
T.
Hope you had a better night and get well soon :)
;D ;D @Lish, might do me some good ;D
thank you all, sweating all night but at least I can nap if I need during the day, all babysitting called off for now
too late, greenfists, taking the tamiflu but I'm on omeprazole so, hopefully, that'll protect my stomach a bit, I'm finding it awkward to fit all the pills in, normally 8 in the morning including my vits so they're lunchtime now.
mashed potato, really, Deb? can't cope with it normally but rice pudding, usually make my own but I've put some on Ray's shopping list, along with MORE tissues, having to BUY eggs as no chicken visits at the mo, never mind, day 2 of anti biotics, apparently I was snoring like Ray's drill last night, hopefully my nose'll dry up a bit
Hope you feel a bit better today :)
I come down with a dreadful cold over Christmas and only just getting over it now, strangest cold I have ever had, very debilitating. :(
Thought you might get bird flu!! I have now caught Pork Loin flu , Had the swine but went to the doctors and got cured! ;D
Get well soon. xx
what happened to your 'gammon' flu, mammoth..hope I haven't passed it on to the chooks, they'd end up with bacon and egg flu ;D
curiously, some symptoms are better today and some worse, at least I can swallow today :)
Love and hugs to you both for a speedy recovery! Flo x :-*
Hey Manics, can I share the sympathy, please?
After a stressful few days, had a good resolution yesters and something to celebrate, so I opened a bottle of red......
Woke up this morning with a bad 'ead - think I might have Wine Flu

Oh, I know! I know!
Back to you for a minute (just a minute, mind ;))....the pills that are making you feel better, are..? Any chance that there's anything else you can take between doses to keep the bad symptoms at bay?
Here, it's starting to hail a bit and it's SO cold - glad I'm at home today & able to keep warm and snug. Hope that you're able to get comfortable and have got Ray trained and ready to peel grapes, etc.etc.etc. as needed.
:-*
I suffer terribly from wine flu... :'( still sending get well thoughts your way! :-*
I don't think I can have any more pills, I'm on 6 ibroprufen and up to 8 paracetemol a day, if I need them, with the vitamins and the meds, I rattle ;D
finally allowed to have a shower this moning (first one in 3 days 'cos i was going dizzy), it's nice to feel clean ;D
I think I've got him trained, Lish 'cos Ray made me lovely poached salmon last night, perfect, and I'm having a mushroom omelette for lunch, heating's on, I've got a cuppa tea, wrapped in my blanket and the paras are working, what more could I ask for :)
and, no, you can't borrow him ;D

young friend of mine who's a doctor has just told me it starts getting better in 4 or 5 days, the snotty, coughy stuff a little longer, also told me not to take tami-flu, again, too late ;D
sorry, Hyacinth, how's your head, had a hair of the dog yet?

YEP! Gave the bugga a crew cut bout an hour ago, now gotta knit him a woolly coat, mind, to keep 'im warm, and the decreasing-pass-slip-stitch-over bit ain't arf tricky when it comes to the arm/leg 'oles
So...reckon you can have a zzzzzzzzzzzzz this arvers or are you still at the night-and-day-awake-and-suffering-then, blessedly-asleep stage? Really hope that it passes for you quickly Mal.
I know you do, having this site really helps, 'specially if you can have a laugh ;D
don't feel the need for a sleep but just taken some ibro, keeping the joint aches away as well :)
..just as long as the laffs don't precipitate a coughing fit, then we'll carry on?.....anyone want to contribute some jokes, then, peeps? ACE and Tel and Telboy....typical men, eh....never around when you need 'em ;)
Me, I'mm orf for a zzzzzzzzz.

Missed the flu 5 times then got shot.. I don't know wether to say well done , aah, or thank goodness. anyway glad it wasn't fatal.. I think.

Saturday morning - blue, blue clear sky here in Brum but v.v.v.cold - nice to stay in and look out - what's it like in your neck of the woods, Mal? Hope that you've had a good night and that you check in with us during the day. Thinking of you.
:-* Lish
same here, Lish, looks wonderful but, when I went in the garden with the dog, it's bloody freezing and I'm glad to get back to the couch , cuppa and tv, the set upstairs went bang this morning so Ray has been to asda and got me a little flat screen, he's just putting it in now ;D
still very chesty, snotty so I can't breath through my mouth and get puffed wneh I go upstairs but, at least i feel like doing something, just sorted the bills and put some washing in the machine ;D
hope your wine flu is better today? ;D
Gosh you really seem to have improved fast!! Keep taking the pills. You've certainly done more today than I have.
that's it, though, Anne..watching the good life for the umpteenth time, I could act the parts by now, reading my new grow your own mag Ray got for me and popping on here and face book, full time couch potato, me ;D
anyway, not worth moaning about all the misery ;D
Hiya Mal!
Do you ever check out BBCiPlayer or 4OD? Loads to watch there.
Sure it's going to snow again some time soon, so I've checked out the charity shop for books, oh! and called in at the wine shop for top-up supplies should things get dire again. hmmmm...thinks.....well, it's certainly cold enough for snow right now... ;)
OT really but part of all the house refurbishment I'm doing at the moment involves building a proper wine rack in an understairs cupboard - so dark and even temperature. Next month I'll get to fill it with wine!!
As well as iplayer and 4OD you can download whole series although not sure it's strictly legal. My son recently downloaded Bones and Boston legal. Or programmes off itunes (but you have to pay for them).
Or you could do some garden planning and sort your seeds??
don't worry, I've loads to do, got some correspondence caught up with this afternoon, printed some photos out, bought some pressies over the web, actually managed to defrost a strawberry sponge and we've just eaten it with lovely custard, I really think it's on it's way out ;D
now, be cafeful Hyacinth, you might relapse with your wine flu , and Anne, you're setting yourself up for it ;D
still got some of my birthday books to read , Elizabeth peters and Terry pratchett, and forgot I was bought 'stardust' dvd for christmas off my lovely grandchildren , I only remembered when Callum asked if I'd seen it yet ;D
going to start some parsnip seeds off chitting on monday, I covered a bed with plastic for them last week so it should be nice and warm next week :)
btw, seeds are sorted and plans are made, first thing I did ;D
OMG it's just too much activity. I think I'll lie down for a bit to get over it! :o :o :P
Alternatively get yourself up the M6 and M74 - we've got work to do!! ;D ;D
Lordy! Gotta check back & see just WHAT tab cocktail you're on with all that energy. Want some ;D
don't worry, back down the snake's tail now, maybe back up the ladder tomorrow :)
can't even decide what I want for my tea, can't fancy a big meal :-\
G'won, Manics.....tell us how it is, then, today....how's the view from the top of the ladder or are you down there looking at the stars (btw, talking of stars, did you see the moon + the Red Planet these last nights? FAB-U-LOSO)
DO hope that all's progressing well....no high temp? no lung congestion?
:-*
you do make me laff ;D
still tail-ending it I'm afraid, temp come back, not as bad, headache, think it's the cocktail of pills...still, all things pass ;D
saw the fantastic moon, ouldn't get over the size of it, woke up to 4" of snow this morning, sun's up now and it's melting apart from the side roads..hoping to get up to the plot tomorrow, even if I just sit in the shed ;D
Manics, Just catching up on A1A and read you're under the Swine.
Hoping you'll take it easy, study some seed catalogues, so you don't relapse which seems to be par for the course here.

Mmmmmm ... might have one myself. 8) 8) No sauces though just a few fried tomatoes.
"Watch it! I could revert to being Modom Controller"
Blimey! That's telling 'er :o
;D
I want a 'gibbering' emoticon, honestly, if it's really bad or cold, I'll stay at home tomorrow but we do have heating in the shed(big heater ran on a generator) and nice, comfy seats, kettle etc so I'll be well looked after, they have choclit biscuits there anorl, ain't got a bite of chocolate in this house since christmas ;D
So far, every one I know who is supposed to have swine flu seems to have just had a cold. I think the symptoms are exactly the same.
I rang the hot line when my grand daughter was sent home from school because she was supposed to have it and the questions they asked to diagnose it over the phone and got a yes to were the same symptoms for loads of illnesses. She went back to school the next day. Yet will be on the statistics as having it
If you feel fit enough to go, then you go.
Proper flu knocks you on your back for days, you can't move and all you want to do is sleep.
I've had it since last tuesday, diagnosed on wednesday, I think, believe me, it's not like a heavy cold..the symptoms are different, for a start, I think it wasn't as widespread as the press made out :)
It can't be as bad as Man-flu though.
Nothing is worse than Man-flu.
;D ;D ;D @ Wabbit
So how are you today? Have you been plotting or following instructions?!?
sorry, madam, been naughty, spent a lovely hour on the plot, only got 1 tami flu tablet to go, finished all me anti-biotics and feel brill for having been out in fresh air, I'd forgotten what it smelled like ;D
I had on tights, thick trousers, big, fur lines boots, warm tee shirt, thick fleece, full length woollen coat, thick gloves and a snood, taking no chances, and I got to see me chooks ;D
All together now : Awwwwwww! ;D ;D
I've been painting all morning and spent all pm until now preparing papers for tonight's allotment committee meeting. Dull! :(
ours is saturday and Ray has been translating my notes from january to report back on ;D
Well I'm back home now and it was a good meeting! New chairman who cuts ice.
glad you have a pro active chairman, that's the way Ray is, doesn't do him any good sometimes as he finds it difficult to let others do things, still, he's learning 'cos he's hurt his back AGAIN ::) ;D
he's turned making the base for the new greenhouse over to 3 men with no back problems ;D
Glad you enjoyed your hour on the plot Manics. You "sound" brighter. Take care.
It sounds like that was exactly the medicine you needed! :-*
