Title: The Growing Demand For Allotments ~~~ Research
Post by: laurag1988 on January 22, 2010, 12:36:19
Hi All Allotment Owners,

My name is Laura and I am currently in my final year at university studying Sociology.  For my final year project I am looking at the growing demand for allotments in the UK.  I have put together a questionnaire for allotment owners about their views on allotments and what they use their allotments for.  If anyone would be willing to help me with my research by filling out a 5 minute questionnaire could they please reply to this or email me.

Thank you for your time,

Laura.

Hi Laura.  Sorry to be cynical, but I've seen this exact same question asked several times now, and the methodology has been so obviously weak that it's a stretch to believe it's serious undergraduate research.  Do you have a university e-mail address?  Can we see the questionnaire?

Hi all,

Thank you for the support so far and to everyone that has already completed a questionnaire for me.  Regarding other messages,  I would rather not post the questionnaire on here as the last thing I want to happen is people post their completed questionnaires back on here and then confidentiality and privacy can not be kept.  I am more than happy to email anyone a copy of the questionnaire whether it is for completion or criticism.  (Please don't be too nasty tho  :-[)

For further information,  I am using these questionnaires as the basis of my research, if i find there are gaps in the results I will be following them up with interviews with allotment owners in my local area.  Any further questions feel free to post on here or email me.

Laura.

Yes im worried the information may be used in a bad way, ie junk mail (to peoples homes) or the online kind, junk e-mails. People do sell e-mail addresses to companies.

Sorry hun, count me out.

I don't mind PMing an email address, but if your questionnaire is Word/text document, couldn't you copy and paste it into an A4A PM?

Hey everyone,

Thank you once again for all the completed questionnaires and feedback I have received.  It has been an amazing help.  Digeroo, I would love to do this if it would make it easier for everyone but im not actually sure how I could do it and keep all answers and information confidential.  Any ideas?

I want to make this as easy and accessible for everyone who is willing to participate as possible but at the same time need to respect the privacy of participants.

Feel free to PM, email or post on here any questions or comments you may have.

Thank you again,

Laura.

There's something called 'survey monkey' which is used for online questionnaires at unis. You can get a basic sign-up free.

your college email is an invalid address? (I cant believe a real student would use a bl**dy hotmail account for genuine research (we were not encouraged to do this when I took my qualifications)

so, send me your real college email, and I''ll happily return your forms.

My University email is hs06llg@brunel.ac.uk, sorry if i mis-typed it previously or it may have been that my inbox was full.  I have deleted a lot of emails now so should work fine.

Thank you,

Laura.
