Title: parsnip shells

I dug some parsnips yesterday but some were only the outer shell. what caused that?(//)

mmm could be canker or a combi of canker and slug damage.
Are they all like that..

Yes, is that what it said on the packet?? hahaha! Seriously, I have had mice do this to Parsnips & also to J Fartichokes... They even built a nest in one of them for an encore!

I also found out about "hollow crown"parsnip  as a very old variety but still popular! But I shall be on the look out for the mice on my next visit , weather permitting, many thanks.

Well, if the mice are eating out the woody core some parsnips have,
bring 'em on!
