I've got nothing specific against Ebay (depends who you are buying off) but I use Agroforestry Research Trust (agroforestry.co.uk) for most unusual edibles - have a look - their containerised 1L plants are 8.80 but you might find something else interesting to take some of the sting out of the P&P.
If you're only sleeping on them it probably doesn't matter which variety...but the agroforestry site says prima donna is dwarf - which would be a very good thing! (it will still be bigger than you think - the others are massive).
Of all the asparagus substitutes I've ever read about, the first 20cm of hop shoots in Spring are the only ones that are worth collecting, never mind eating... (when the plant is well established - will hardly put a hiccup in its growth).
Cheers
thanks, vinlander, will have a look at the link you have , may look at the prima donna :)
Hi Manics, how close to the seat will it be? Hops give you a right nasty weal when the scratch you.
Hi, unwashed, it's the other side of the trellis so shouldn't be a problem, thanks for the heads up though ;D
