Easy that one, cos I've only just been able to get out after 7 days at home with a completely empty refrigerator after coming back from hols to find the local s'market empty of stock & I've massively overbought in compensation - vegetables, ALL vegetables,  and yes, checked my salt stocks too - can't be doing with this no-salt malarky in my cooking :-\ Still suffering from choclit overload after Xmas and have loads of gifted boxes/tins left, and a freezer drawer full of tomatoes and a cupboard filled with pasta/pulses as per...yep! fresh veggies for me. Oh! and eggs - can't be doin' without eggs...

Foodwise - nothing to be honest.

Now the bog-roll situation was getting worrying!

J, I came back a week ago from Christmas in the US, knowing I'd come back to thick snow, which is why I asked my taxi to stop at the local s'market en route. Shelves empty of all veggies! It seems that panic buying created the shortages, rather than the inability of delivery trucks to get through, but may have been a mixture of both? Dunno :-\

Love the comments esp. the loo roll.  We have many friends with 4x4 cars who realised that we were isolated.  Most were going shopping as they also ran out of loo roll and had to go shopping ;D  We had a few deliveries but ok for loo roll, a friend has a hol home opposite so we can always borrow and replace things like that.

Did the helecopter keep you entertained ACE,? My dad bought his over for Christmas and spent the entire holiday tormenting the dogs with it, he did have his regular stash of whisky with his though.

Fortunately none, as I live in a city, am able-bodied and have crampons! Did eat more ready meals though out of laziness though. Do worry about all the elderly people who may not be able to get out, but I dont know where they live in my area. Its mainly students (who seem to have the ability to dance on ice without falling over and live on beer). Perhaps the old people should wave a hanky out of their window, I would be more than happy to help!

We were stuck in our Village for over a week and consequently had run out of lots of things.  We used the local shop and our village Butcher good, however, I needed Spuds, greens, carrots etc.  etc.  What I would have killed for was a Morning Roll.  I placed an order with Tesco (2 times)  both times, non delivery.  By the 2nd delivery date the roads were OK but they didnt make it.  I have sent them an e mail complaining because our Niece ran out of Baby food and Milk and that was also on the Tesco Order.  We are still surrounded by snow and ice and i am not in the North of Scotland, I am in the Scottish Borders.  We must have had 2ft of snow, now down to a few inches.  My car hasn't sat at our front door since 18th December.

;) ;)

Oh my goodness I had no idea that you had all gone through this, it must have been dreadful, news comes across the pond but we don't seem to get the full picture. I guess I am glad now I am a bit of a squirrel and have the need to pack the shelves for winter, usually I get teased about it.

Here in Vancouver we are always told to have a "go bag" ready with essentials for 3 days due to the strong chance of earthquake, I kinda get teased about that too but I do listen.

I really hope things get better real quick, snow is wonderful in small amounts but enough is enough.

Funnily enough re don't have any here..the world is a funny old place.

Take care all,
