Previous years I've had a bit of a problem with it but this year not so much.  I've never tried any of the UV lights or pills or stuff like that, though maybe I should have.

On a lovely sunny day like today I feel so full of optimism and my outlook is far more positive. When I was driving to the allotment today I said to Tony. "No wonder people worshipped the sun" I am one of those people that should hibernate during the winter.

I have suffered with it (SAD) and have found cod liver oil  works for me!  One winter I didn't take them because I thought I would be okay without it but I wasn't  :'(
I felt pretty down that winter until I realised why!
Do some research online and give it a try. Its the only supplement I feel happy to take and if it doesn't help your SAD think of all its other benefits.  ;D

I'm not very good at winter either! Used to have an SAD lamp but it took up loads of space and was too much of a faff to use regularly. Found going to the gym every day worked wonders, feel rather lazy right now though! Cod liver oil is good stuff - high in vitamin D.

So was I until today. Went round to mother in laws early and put some wheels on the hen house that we have bought. Moved the electric fence into its final position (could not get it into the frozen ground until today). Its now all ready for the chickens and it was light until 5 o'clock. Even the bees came out of the hive for a look round.

Am I the only one who enjoys winter (as well as all the other seasons), there is nothing better than being indoors all cosy with dark dismal weather outside or coming in soaking wet & cold to a warm home & hot bath.

Both my husband and daughter have seasonal affective disorder and both are helped by the SAD lights.
Our dgt uses a small unit that sits on her kit. table, about the size of a magazine or smaller, and uses it while she reads the morning news.
She has learned she must put sunblock on her face or she gets all freckled up! But it makes a marked difference in her mood. That plus increasing her walking outside. She does a couple miles a day.
If I phone her when she has NOT used them it is always obvious from her voice that she is struggling- she just sounds slower and not too interested in life.

My husband made a unit for himself that is a wood box which he attached to the wall behind the window drapes. He just pulls the drapes aside to use it.

Give them a whirl. Much better than dragging around.

No, I have really sensitive eyes so I love winter.... driving in in darkness, drive home in darkness.... summer can be a special piece of hell for me when the sun comes out.....

Aah Jim-you'll be ok when you get out in the garden again! We all will be!!! I go through spates and I think it depends what's going on in my life as to how I feel when winter comes around. I'm a busy bee in the new house this year so I think that's keeping me occupied. I really am looking forward to Spring though.  ;)

For years I thought I was just allergic to Christmas as thats my low point, then, like yesterday and sunday, a crisp spring day with a bit of sunshine and I'm transformed.

2 hours working outside in the 'sunshine' = best tonic of all.

I am never great in January and February.

We are trying to finalise a house move at the moment and with Christmas then New year and then the bad weather it is grinding away very very slowly.

However after watching all the tragedy of Haiti I feel a bit ashamed for fussing over nought really.

We are so lucky and don't appreciate it as much as we should. :)
