last week we had our first egg. from one of the bantams. then 4 days later the other bantam laid an egg and just as i went out to close up there coop. the RIR had laid! hara a hat trick. it seems the timer light i put in has done the trick...am well chuffed. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

is it wierd for them to trash there nesting area leaving it bare and laying on the hard wood? only two eggs have been damaged so far. was thinking of putting some sort of padding in the bottom to cushion the fall. you would think they would naturally want to make a nest???
Mine lay in a plastic storage box, they can't kick the bedding out as the sides are too high. Mind you they also perch on the sides and sleep inside it.
