Title: Lost garlic
Post by: telboy on January 16, 2010, 12:59:43
Before the arrival of the white stuff, my October sown garlic was about 20 mm high & looking fine.
I checked a couple of weeks later & was very surprised to find that the lot had disappeared!
Our plots don't suffer from human thieving so it must be some animal. Could it be squirrels?
What do you think?
???

Have you had a firkle telboy? Sometimes the top growth dies back and they come again, if your fingers are up to it have a feel to see if the bulbs are still reasonably hard below the ground. If they've gone to slush it's not too late to put some more in.

This happened to me - I dug about but the bulbs had gone.  :(

Some creature has gnawed holes in plastic bottles as well, so I wonder if mice or rats like garlic (take away the taste of plastic?  :-\)

I'll have to have a firkle. There were depressions where the cloves were planted.
Still, I have spares which is a good thing.

Planted Nov-Dec - should they not be showing despite the freeze?
