if your tv has computer input you can just use a vga or dvi cable to s video or hdmi depends what out put you graphics card has. but you will need to get sound cable aswell if using the vga or dvi connection.

works fine with my ancient computer with an old graphics card, using the vga connection. Doesn't quite have the right resolution but no problem. You'll probably have to change the refresh rate (from 75 Hz to 60 Hz?)

Wii's and PS3s have i-players available, they don't store the programs so you need at least 2 meg internet bandwith for uninteruped playback.

If you dont have a specific PC imput on your TV (its not up to date enough), but want to watch films or TV streamed from the internet, is there anything you can get to adapt the PC/TV to make it work through one of the AV channels?

My dad loves watching films over the internet but his TV wont connect to his laptop pc, so has to watch on the laptop screen which isnt ideal. It would be great to be able to watch them on the TV. His birthday is comming up so such a device if available would be a great prezzie for him.

Many thanks for the link. Very interesting. Did not know such devices existed, but now i do i have looked into other such devices. I am slightly confused by what is out there and what is best for my set up but i am sure i will find something suitable with some more research.

I maybe have the opposite situation to you - a new telly and an old PC. The only problem is the resolution of the graphics card is a 4:3 ratio, and the screen on the telly is 16:10 (I think). So to watch a movie say that's 16:9 and have it as big as possible I have to set the telly to widescreen and change the aspect ratio on the movie player to 16:10.....Does any of that make sense?  ;D

Using it as a pc monitor to say look at slideshows, I have to set the telly to 4:3 and put up with them not filling the screen either side.......ditto  ;D
