I wonder who's made the most posts?
Is it Saddad?
Hello! :D
This is my very first post. As they say, a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. Apart from ordering seeds online, Allotments 4 All is the nearest I will get to actual gardening this week - there's six inches of snow outside the door. Although, now I think of it, I have visited the compost heap and bashed some snow off the branches of the damson tree. Perhaps that counts. :D
Welcome Spudbash :)
I hope you enjoy this site as much as I do.
There are some fantastic people here and I feel as though I actually know them as 'real' people and not just names on a computer. I've met a few of them and they were just as nice in 'real life' as they are here.
Have you got an allotment? Tell us a bit about what you like growing.
Hello spudbash and welcome to the forum! ;D
I've been out to see the guinea pigs and that's it! But it all definately counts. ;)
Welcome to the site Spudbash. As you can see from the posts, it is addictive! ;D
I have learnt a lot though and people are very helpful.

The leaderboard :-\ :-\
Tim 17688
Saddad 12993
Manics 11833
Emma Jane 11601 (sadly no longer posting)
Robert B 10860
Lish (as Hyacinth) 7878
Lorna 7026
I gave up after that....
...and yes I have a very sad life! :P :P
Hi again and thank you for the welcome posts! :D It will take me a while to get to grips with posting - I haven't really bothered with forums in the past. Let me introduce myself properly: I'm Debbie Hearn, a food writer based in (snowy) Hampshire. I've grown my own for about twenty years. I don't have an allotment, but I have a fair-sized garden with six smallish veg beds and a few small fruit trees. I have a husband, twin sons of 21 (usually at uni) and a daughter of 18 - they all have good appetites. Four of us were snowed in yesterday, so I tackled the north face of a Crown Prince squash to make soup for lunch. The remaining three-quarters await my attention in the fridge, so it's time to put fire under the cauldron once more. If this paragraph seems a bit long, that's because I've found that pressing Enter seems to make the Post reply box disappear. Clearly, there's a knack that I need to acquire... Looking forward to future chats, but it will be a while before I clock up a thousand or more posts. :D
Hi again spudbash-are you pressing Enter as in the long button on the number row with an arrow pointing left? That makes my browser take me back a window too! I press the one below it with the bent arrow on it which I know as Return!
You sound lovely, welcome again. I don't have an allotment either-I live too far away from them, I'll be starting from scratch this year in a new house-very excited and going stir crazy waiting..... :(
Welcome to the forum, spudbash!! ;)
Welcome to A4A, Spudbash - we're in Hampshire too! :) :) :) :)
oh, b***er, a miss spent youth followed by a miss spent middle age, hopefuly followed by a very miss spent old age
welcome to A4A Spudbash (great user name BTW!)
And Manics - practice, practice, practice ;)
sorry, spudbash, nearly missed you, welcome to the (sometimes) mad house ;D
Me too! Welcome Spudbash! Sounds like you're an experienced gardener and cook.
MMmmmm.... but do you have the essential craziness to cope?? :-\ :-\ :P ;D ;D
I think I'll have to go off-line for a while until the Manics catch me up...
Welcome to A4A Spudbash... :)
Welcome, Spudbash, from the next county along the sunny south coast. ;)
It's good 'in here'; lots of sound advice and plenty of lovely people - (a few of us are more than a little bit potty but you'll get used to us!)

Hi again,
Thanks for even more welcomes, some local, some not so local, and thanks for the advice on keying Enter/whatever: it seems to have worked.
It's true, I am quite experienced (thinks: old), and do I have the essential craziness to cope? Ask my husband!
Talking of Hampshire born, I grew up five miles away from here, in Berkshire, chanting Berkshire born, Berkshire bred... But my children were born in Hants, so you know what I'll be saying to them later today.
Fine crop of snow in the garden just now. I'm off to look for snow recipes. ;D ;D ;D
I can't read and I can't write. ;D ;D ;D
can you drive a tractor? ;D ;D ;D
