Title: Beware wasps
Post by: Yorkshire Sam on January 06, 2010, 16:25:42
I leave my gloves hanging up in my shed at the allotment by a bulldog clip ( helps them to dry in this weather). Went this morning to feed and water the chicks. As I had to dig out the water feeders from about 9 inches of snow I put on my gardening gloves. 10 minutes into doing the chicks I felt like someone had driven a red hot needle into my index finger!  A wasp had hibernated in my glove and obviously was a bit indignant to be rudely woken!

Lesson learned next time I will check my gloves before putting them on. RIP wasp

Yoww! My Dad was trying to get me to keep a box of bees in my shed over winter... accident waiting to happen methinks. Get well soon!

What sort of bees? Honeybees don't need to be inside, and other sorts would be dormant and no threat.

That is a good lesson to us all.

I give everything a good shake and rattle at this time of year before donning them on. These poor creatures will find any where warm to over winter

And who can blame them.
