......you'll believe anything. I HATE them!! And we used to trust Youngs?
From the package, would you not realistically expect AT LEAST 50% lush, juicy , jumbo Scampi tail?
How naive!! All you get is a couple of tiny shrimp-like things.
Jumbo? Yes - jumbo batter!! Sorry about the 2nd focus.
Very sad.
oh yuck!
send the piccies to the company and complain. ask for an explanation as to how they can describe it as wholetail scampi...
They'll say you get 2 whole tails ??
But yes - shall be doing!
PS Oh, I note on the back - Scampi 41%. Nowhere near even that.
Oh dear you realy must complain. How disgusting.
Youngs is now part of (a restructured) Findus. It looks as if they've survived troubled times for the frozen fish industry, but perhaps at the cost of product quality. This http://www.findusgroup.com/web2009/web/news_item.asp?id=324&trg=h suggests that you're not the only one to find the fish content lacking!
I stopped buying those a while back, I had a batch that was sandy, put me right off them.
Make your own "Scampi" with monkfish or cod cheeks then you defo know whats going in and can make the coating abit spicy...and with homemade tartare sauce with extra capers......mmmmm :)
Three small prawns masquerading as Scampi? :o Or do my eyes deceive me?
Sharonmld-my girls don't really like fish but they love my homemade "scampi" and tartare sauce with chunky real chips-yum. Might have that for dinner. :)
I use monkfish-what is a cod cheek?

I get mine from my local fishmonger (aven't seen them in supermarkets)...not sure if they are actually the cheeks of cod, but basically they are just round lumps of cod (have the option of with or without a piece of cartiledge/bone attached)...usually very cheap and great for bulking out fish curries and stews as rather meaty and keep their shape.
Oh ok, I know what you mean I think. :)
oooo cod cheeks delic!! Haven't had those in a while. And as to Tim's "scampi" - yuck!!
Cod cheeks are literally that! are the 'cheeks' off of the head
(our last long-shore boat quit last month, so no more truly local fish for us, and to think the town was one of the foremost fishing ports in the world, once)

that's a sad story to hear Tony
