The ENTER key (what you press to make a new line). It is often called RETURN. Only to confuse people.
I think it's called return because it used to be 'carriage return' on old typewriters.
I had one of those old, black type writers with the keys on sticks when I was a child.
There was a part called the 'carriage' which moved the paper across the keys, and when wanted to start a new line, you had to pres 'return' and the whole paper would slide back to the start (return to start)
'Officially' (on full size pc keyboards) the enter key is the one on the numberpad part of the keyboard, and return is the one near the letters.
Just done a survey of the full sized keyboards and laptops round my office and they either have just an arrow pointing to the left or an arrow and ENTER. I'm sure I've seen RETURN, must be harking back to the old days.
anyone over 55 gone for the freebies?

I am so addicted :-\ :-\ :-\
I am into Bouncing Balls, Savage Blue has a huge score on that!!! How do you do that?
please don't tell me about bouncing balls or farmville bejewelled blitzt is enough ! :o
Must admit I stumbled onto farmville last week & am getting horribly addicted although I refuse to part with proper cash, so I am looking for friends who will be neighbours.
I must say it appeals to instant gardening instinct & I can do it in the snow!
Oh, that b***dy Farmville! Almost all of my FB friends use it and it got to the point where I had requests overflowing out of my inbox so I blocked the darn thing months ago!!! Just for fun I joined a rather funny anti-Farmville group on there which I spotted on Carol's page (ahem, I don't think I'll mention it in here, perhaps I'll leave Carol to do that, lol) I'm still a regular Scrabble player though ;D I also like Bejeweled Blitz and Bouncing Balls, lol. One of my friends ex pupils scored over a million in Bejeweled, how is that possible?! :o
how do you find the games?

I think they call them 'applications' but you can search for particular ones or get an invite off a friend to play.

thanks, mortality, I'll investigate..just wanted to have a look, I have much to much of an addictive personality, I'd get hooked and I spend far too long on the computer as it is ;D

Hehe, I only went onto FB when I became a student, now have met up with even old schoolfriends.
It's great as long as you have time for what you get into - Farmville is not an option here! BUT who has a pet dragon...........much fun! As is Scrabble (again if not too serious)
Lol CLx

I can't resist going on bejeweled and i know Manics is already an addict ;D
My mum has entered the FB world as she was trying to track down a friend. She spent most of yesterday hopping on and off when she was supposed to be writing her OU essay of 1800 words. Shame the topic wasn't "How distracting is facebook?" ;)
it's excellent, I'm now in touch with all my family in canada, much easier than e mail, plus my children are all members and getting hold of my two lads normally!!!! ;D
Great in it??
You can chat away while playing on your farm. ;D
Just had my first weird FB moment. A friend of mine sent me a message regarding silly and rude chocolate related status updates. So I sent her-"hehehe you are such a bad girl...".
Looked up a sec later and had a message-thought it was probably her so had a look and found from a total stranger a message that read: "and just who the f*** are you?"
So I clicked on her name and saw on her profile that we had the friend in common. The message must have been a group message and I had replied to all.
So I sent her a rather snippy message saying that we had a friend in common and what had happened and thanked her for being so rude and aggressive. :)
Yes you have to be careful of this kind of thing.
I only ever allow family and close friends as friends on facebook but you do get these little bits leak through. :)
how do you turn down requests for eggs, teddys, hearts, etc, without hurting someone's feelings/ :-\
Just block the application or ignore em ..........LOL ;D

If you hold your mouse over the "news" about your mate cooking too much lasagne in his cafe ::) , "Hide" will appear over on the right. Click on this & you can choose whether to ignore the app or your mate.
I had to "ignore" an online friend of mine from across the pond who is very funny but posts 3 or 4 chunky things a day - making me miss other stuff!
thanks, both of you..these are new cousins discovered by my brother..may try the ignore the app :)

I'm sure you know it's just cynical marketing - the ads just shove your age group in there - I get ads for "freebies exclusively for 34 year olds" and ones for "30-40"... Like there are companies out there who say "we only want customers 34 years old, not 35 and not 33, but 34 is perfect.
I like counry life and have a cracking little garden, may have to tyry farmville too - oh do the cafe too -
My name is Lushy and I'm a faceaholic! ;D
Lushy x
Asbean's got me hooked on Jungle Jewels!!! :-\ :-X ;D
Hi Y'all
Knowwot u mean about addiction, aside from gardening and .....well we won't talk about anything else!! Swobs is my peferred poison to kill off a cold snowy afternoon, followed closely by Cube Crash and Scratbble, well now you're alking. I have 14 games going at present on Scrabble, keeps the ole brain cell busy!
Making the most of 'em now cos I am forsaking the computer soon for the great outdoors, except for A4U. Mark you if anyone fancies a game of scrabble!!
Don't really play the games 'cept maybe Uno evry now and again. I use it to keep in touch with far off friends since we moved from the south to the midlands and I love it for that. I love joining crazy groups. My current and so far all time fav is "An arbitrary number of people demand some sort of action be taken". If you know FB you'll know why I love it!!
Anyone need Farmville contacts? pm me :P
