Title: aechmea blue rain
Post by: lin on January 04, 2010, 12:42:19
Hi all, I bought this plant this summer and it has done well... I did a search on this site and noone has mentioned it yet. It is lovely but the flower is dying now and there are little rosettes branching off which I will try to repot. But I haven't found too many facts about it. I assume the flower/bract is only there the once and then the main plant dies, but the sites I have visited haven't really confirmed that... does anyone know?

I am going to try the offshoots and hopefully won't kill them... the flowers are spectacular!! Lin

Hi Lin.
The only thing i can find regarding Aechmeas are:-
The plant may be propagated if new rosettes form at it's base, towards the end of flowering period.
Once these rosettes have reached half the height of parent plant they can be removed and potted up.
hope that helps
Bob
