Title: Transplanting Strawberries ??
Post by: bruno on December 31, 2009, 08:00:48
Was given some cold stored strawberry runners last year which I potted and kept in the garden.

I now want to move these down to the allotment. Is this a suitable time of year for planting them out ?

Any thoughts ?

Happy New Year

Bruno.

Normally I would do this August -October, however, if they are in pots I suppose you could have a go at transplanting them, provided the soil is neither waterlogged nor frozen. Make sure your soil is well prepared with a good addition of well-rotted manure and/or compost and that it is free draining.

I have moved strawberry plants at all times of the year when I moved house and changed to another allotment.   As grawrc says if the ground is workable go for it.
