I only seem to be able to get a crop outside in dry summers, so I can't criticise! There are resistant species, but getting toms bigger than cherry size which retain the resistance is a breeders' nightmare. I don't know why they keep recommending Gardeners' Delight though, there are plenty of better varieties.
I have never been able to grow them outside because of my location so i cant say anything also, I agree there is a lot of other tomatoes with better flavor than Gardeners delight, Guess he hast tried black Russian.
PS Only here while the thread remains sensible
Only shocked that GW recommends gardeners delight. Grew these the first year I ever grew toms. Not since though-much better varieties found here on A4A.
Yep this gardener was not delighted. >:(
I always grow gardeners delight because we like the taste and they do well in our conditions . Surely we all have differen tastes and it is what each person likes. I have tried plenty of others but still come back to GD
