Title: All my new test results are back and apart from the usual back prob I now have..
Post by: Jeannine on December 07, 2009, 13:57:29
Fibromyalgia!! I thought you had to be depressed to get that but I am told no but the constant pain can make you depressed apparently.

At least I now know why a hug hurts.. so come on all you out there, clue me in, what are the chances of getting the pain under control.

Chiropractic? It might at least be worth asking. (I'm seeing ours this week - I could ask for you.)

Meanwhile, gentle hugs and kisses....

Hi. I too know only too well what constant pain is like, have seen umpteen specialists and neurologists over the years.....
99% of the so called pain meds are like swallowing peas for all the good they do.
I am on Prednesone for Addisons disease  developed from my dad (who died 66 years ago) had TB. now for pain I am on Oxicodone (sp) as well. That  helps a bit with pain but I think I should take a stronger dose. but Doc say's  no.
some times I do take  extra  and then for a short time not sure if I am coming or going.
I am told these pills have a street value of plus $20 each.  these pills are not all that expensive  on prescription if you don't have a drug plan, I see you are in BC.
I can only say I am sorry for you and your pain, and wish I could suggest some thing that would fix it.
Would your doc let you try oxicodone.. qahtan

I have fibromyalgia as well ,go to www.patient.co.uk/ and you get a lot of interesting details,
i find the insomnia hard and when you finally drop off about 3am for me ,i wake because of hip/shoulder/back pain, i never seem to sleep for longer than 2/3 hour stretches, and the restless legs as soon as i sit down at night prevents any relaxation prior to bed, elevating my legs seems to make that worse.

Jeannine after the chiropractor my pain was made worse. The physiotherapist, a good one, made a 90% improvement over about 12 weeks and recommended pilates. I've had 5 weeks of Pilates 1 per week and now have very little pain except the shopping trolley set if off today but it's recovered.

Sorry to hear about your pain Jeannine.  The only way is to speak to your GP about it and don't go to a chiropractor without consulting your consultant.
Gentle hugs are coming your way.   {{{{hugs}}}}   :-*

I don't think the docs over here like prescribing Oxycodin, it's horribly addictive, dunno about BC though.... Do poppies grow where you are? Ok so opiates are just as addictive but they're rather more natural than what I believe is refferred to as "Hillbilly Heroin"....

It certainly sounds like a horrible thing to have.

I did find this on the web

http://www.fibromyalgia-cured.com/?gclid=CL6Ux_TdyJ4CFUQA4wodFRxtqg

Probably a quack remedy but who knows?

I too had results back from MRI I had done about 10 days ago, so saw my Doc yesterday down in Niagara Falls, he told me that tests show disease in all disks in the lumbar region.
He feels  surgery would not be wise as I could and most likely would end up
worse. so that is my tale of woe. poor old me.. ;-(((((
Try not to take too many Oxycontin but he gave me a prescription for 90.
Tomorrow is ultra sound on my aneurysm.

Thanks for all your good wishes, actually the Oxy stuff I was given, it sent me round the bend for two days and with my head in the toilet most of the time. I had Fentanyl patches plus three other pain killers but it is still not under control so I stopped using the patches about three months ago so my pain has increased ten fold. I n the UK they were treating me for a back injury caused in OR and wouldn't look into the rest till my legs started to get some feeling back, well that part seems to be over but the back pain has remained and it is plus dreadful pain in ribs, elbows and legs and loss of strength in shoulders and arms. Jonathon my super loving Dr here is a real pet, I was so pleased to get back to him and ir took him very little time to work it out. I elected not to try any other meds until I was sure the other stuff was out of my system, against his wishes so we will see what is happening when I see him in a couple of weeks.

The Chiro, acupuntcure and spinal  cauterisation surgery was  all been done over a period of two years in the UK, with very little if any effect.

Thank you all

XX Jeannine

I'd suspect nutritional deficiencies. Some interesting info here especially about the role of magnesium. Have you had B12 levels checked? What is your diet like? Worth seeing a nutritional therapist eg one trained at Institute of Optimum Nutrition (NOT an NHS dietician as they generally pooh-pooh the idea that diet can cure illness)
