I've got a direct debit set up for Great Ormond Street Hospital and I'm now thinking of changing it to something I saw on the web the other day.
The organisation is called Centrepoint (https://www.centrepointroom.org.uk/) and you donate a certain amount of money each month which they say pays for a room to help one person get off the streets. I really like this idea and I'm definitely up for sponsoring a room or two but ... it's £12 a month. Can't help but wonder how £12 can pay for a room for a month??! I thought perhaps the charity may have bought/leased big buildings and the sponsorships will obviously pay the rent/mortgages? I really want to set it up but I don't want to be one of those nellies that you read about who finds their money has been lining someone's pocket, LOL.
How do I find out (I'm not very savvy in these things) and could I ring them up and ask questions?
Thanks :)
Hopefully Baccyman will arrive soon, hehehehe
Yes by all means phone them! They should be quite happy to answer any questions that you want to ask. This may be of help as well -

Thanks Flighty :)
Well I gave them a call and they were very nice and explained it to me (reeling off my twenty questions, lol) and I asked how £12 a month could pay for a room and they said that multiple sponsors go toward individual rooms, so it could be my sponorship + x amount of others paying for a room for one person per month. I've signed up to sponsor two rooms a month :)
