Title: Prescription Prepayment Certificate
Post by: InfraDig on December 01, 2009, 09:30:48
I have just received a PPC. On the back of the letter is a paragraph on refunds. It says:

You may be able to claim a partial refund of the cost of a PPC if you become entitled to free prescriptions during the life of the PPC. If you would like to claim a refund, please return the certificate and enclose proof of entitlement to a refund where possible eg Benefit award Notice, or death certificate.....(!!!!!!!!)

Is this rather like that accident insurance advert which says that cost will be claimed "from the other side"?

You wonder who comes up with these things.  Worded slightly differently it wouldn't sound so stupid.

My nana managed to get her picture in the papers some years back when there was a hike in prescription charges.  The local rag quoted her as saying how discusting it was and how much it was going to cost her and my grandad.  The fact that she was well into her seventies (and looked it )and exempt made the whole thing quite embarassing.  Apparently all they had said to her was 'are you disgusted at the price rise', she was the sweetest thing and said yes she was - next thing in the paper.

I pay £28.25 for a three month certificate, and then don't have to pay any more when picking up prescriptions for me. There is an annual one as well. See www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk

I don't use an annual one because for what I have on prescription, it works out cheaper on three months.

Somethig you don't have to worry about when you get your winter gin heating allowance. Which by the way I got last week sometime. Some of you might have to wait until after xmas for your payments, because you have been upsetting No. 10 with signing  online petitions. They don't like it and this is how they get their own back.

But back to PPC. Cheaper drugs

Thanks for link InfraDig and info ACE.

Prescriptions are currently free in Wales, scarey how quickly I've forgotten the cost.
