i'm a newbie on the allotment scene, and would like some advice please on how to get rid of these little bugger's that seem to love my brussell sprouts !!
they were netted over but they still swarmed in !!
thanks
Hi Blackcountrysteve and welcome to A4A ;D I take it you're in the black country then!
Re the whitefly I'd love to know as well as my kales are covered in them! I think I need to net them properly next year.....
Welcome to A4A Steve... a good frost will cut them down considerably... :)
thanks and yes that's where i'm from !!
perhaps some of the old un's can shed some light on them ?
They are endemic... if you insist on poisoning them off the respite will only be temporary and then you have to eat some of the poisons too...
I do find the Marigolds in between the rows helps keep them down... :-\
ahh another vote for marigolds then!
thanks for that saddad i'll try that next year
Hi Steve, my brassica's especially the sprouts are covered in them, some say strained rhubarb leaves watered on them, others soft soap but I might go for the long winded way, grease or vaseline a large piece on wood and hold above the plants and shake them and the white flies stick to the grease when they fly up, repeat over and over again, I told you it was long winded. :-\ ;D ;D ;D
the rhubarb leaf method sounds the easier one kev !!
Make you right. ;D ;D ;D
