someone sent me a bouquet some months ago, when the flowers died, I stuck the vase outside and promptly forgot about it.
Went to tidy outside today and found this had grown roots, I 've potted it up now, could it be some sort of lily?
that's the only one I can remember from the flowers ;D
Wouldn't think it was a lily, they have bulbs, it looks like something bamboo -y that might have been used as foliage in the bouquet.
thanks, poppymole..I'll leave it and see what comes up, it's in the house for the moment so should be ok?
also did this with a piece of grapevine, brought a bunch in to keep fresh in a bottle of water , ate the grapes and left the bottle in the garage, hey presto, got another grapevine cutting with roots ;D
It resembles a 'bird of paradise'.
If it is then this site may be if use

It looks very much like a short bamboo/ grass that I have been trying to eradicate from a clients garden this last 3 years. With no success at all. Keep it in a pot for a couple of years and see if it outgrows its space, it will do this very easily. If it does be aware this stuff is so intrusive your garen will be coverd in no time. I have even seen bits rooting after they have been through the shredder. I have an idea it is called sasaella if you think couch grass is bad you wait until you meet his big brother.
ccheers for that, Ace, maybe that's why it rooted so easily ;D
don't remember a bird of paradise flower in there, ph but you never know :)
