We have 2 pumpkins probably 80kg+ the question is now how to get them home!
We are about 1 mile from our plot.
I think we could roll into a wheelbarrow, but then it is a question of walking home with the barrow having to support the weight.
I have a 2 wheeled truck with pneumatic tyres if we can get it tried on (will need a wider base). Still that is going to be heavy to pull!
Don't fancy the lifting to get into the boot as we have a hatchback
Any tips?
Get several people to help you lift them...
We have a couple of flat beds on our site... one with a tow bar.. never had to use them to move pumpkins yet though...

One way is to roll them onto a large towel and get some people to help pick it up.
Or you could cut them into halves or smaller before you put them in your car. :)
the sack-barow wil probably be the easiest option, place a large enough board on the 'foot', roll pumpkin onto that, (make sure tyres are well inflated first)it's only a mile you say? about 20 mins on foot, then ;)

Got into a large barrow and walked home with it!
Not sure of the weight. It filled the barrow which is one of those big orange ones from B&Q...

We are having a party on Saturday so I am planning to carve it. Don't think I will bother cooking with it as it is an Atlantic Giant and not meant for eating. We have a load of other pumpkins and squash which I will carve into smaller lantens and then make pumpkin muffins, pumpkin soup, pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie.
We have another similar size one, but have given it to our lottie neighbour who is doing a charity "guess the weight" at a local club.
Want to weigh ours now, but a bit difficult. Am planning to put a small wooden stool on the bathroom scales and then place the pumpkin on top so I can read the figure.
Sounds like lots of fun Sparkly - and mind your head when you do weigh it!! I don't want to read about some freak accident involving a pumpkin, a set of scales, a stool and an allotmenteer ;D
