Took these two pictures this morning, one is one of our 41 year old delphinium coming into bud (can just see it in the centre) for the second time this year, we have already had several very hard frosts.
Thought the sage looked good so took it's picture as well it is the same age as the delphinium, 41. both were moved here when we did, 1968.
Well I suppose the plants are older than 41 as they were already established when we moved..... qahtan

I know that delphiniums can flower again in late summer if the old spikes are removed but this is very late in the season! Also it's often quoted that the plants lose their flowering potential after a few years! Is it a blue one?
This is an informative webpage all about sage.

Yes it is a blue delphinium, and doesn't get much care and attention..
poor thing. the other delphinium is not as large as this one but has lot of new growth on it. qahtan
Qahtan many thanks but you're early as it's Saturday! xx

Just pretend you haven't opened the card yet Qahtan but you know who it's from, like me when I check the postmarks ;D
I didn't realise delphs lived that long, I put a couple in the front garden about 3 years ago, they bloom twice a year too.
