(Another thread started by me!)

I have bought 3 sedums from a nursery sale. They are looking a little bit unhealthy and wobbly. I returned to the nursery to find the rest of the sedums cut down to 1 inch stumps.

Should I do the same in the hope of better growth next year?

I leave mine for the seed heads and cut down in spring, but if they are not very pretty I'm sure it's ok to cut them down now.

I leave mine to die back naturally. A lot of them do flop.

Because they fall all over the place I usually cut mine back November or so. The new growth is usually visible at the base.
However, I have found that stems taken off the plant a bit earlier than now and cut into segments and pushed into a pot of compost root very well. If you want more plants it may be worth trying now whilst it is not too cold. Alternatively, wait until the spring and as the new shoots grow you can remove them with or without a bit of root to develop into a new plant.
