Title: Squash or courgette?
Post by: caroline7758 on October 18, 2009, 16:43:04
I have just cut into a small green squash (or so I thought) to make some soup and found it was more like a courgette or marrow in texture, much softer than the winter festival I was using with it. I know they are related, but just wondered what variety it might be. I had "normal"courgettes growing in the same patch, with various squash from manicscousers as well as the WF, so could they have cross-pollinated?

Wouldn't affect the fruit even if they were compatible, only the plants grown from  the saved seed. Squash are pretty promiscuous and even though there are several species nearly all of them produce several different form and the saame forms appear across the species....
