Shame ignore doesn't work for PM's though...... or does it?

Go to your profile click on 'Personal Message Options' & you can add people to the PM ignore list there. It's treated seperately to the ignore post options.

Thanks...though I guess that doesn't work for people who change their names all the time!

If people always start their names the same way you should be able to use a wildcard to block multiple accounts.

eg:
Adding username to an ignore list would just ignore that member.
Whereas adding user* would ignore all members whose names started with user.

It only really works if you want to ignore someone who uses multiple accounts with a unique username though.

Edited to add...
Don't just put a wildcard * in the ignore list by itself as you will be telling it to ignore all members.

Mr Fox is back, clearly there is not much for him to do in Reistertown at the moment.

You may know him better as one of the following:
gridgardener
rolet
thegreatgardener
plainleaf
plainleaf2
thegridgardener
markferon
towerlightning
tinpennies
graymatter
& several other aliases I don't recall at the moment.

He hasn't used them all here yet but he is well known by quite a wide selection of usernames on most gardening forums. Just a few years ago he used to use his real name (http://www.hort.net/lists/pumpkins/feb05/msg00063.html) & seemed to have a genuine interest in gardening but now he seems to prefer to behave like a troll.

You ain't seen nothing yet. If you have an hour or three to spare, google some of his usernames. Very entertaining ;D  The best one is where he asks a question on a board then logs on with another username and answers it. This person is so funny, but just in case he is slipping into the hospital office and using the pc when his minders are not looking it could be extremely sad.

Either way don't knock his grammar and punctuation just look at the title of this thread. Or did he start it under another name. Come on Jim own up ;D

I like the threads where he argues with himself, for example he is writing as both zebraman & gridgardener on this thread (http://idigmygarden.com/forums/showthread.php?p=32668).

He must have some gardening knowledge though as he has won several prizes in various categories of the Maryland State Fair, it's a shame he doesn't choose to share that knowledge.

He did that on the BBC boards...using those names i think as well.

His behaviour reminds me of primary school...'my dad's bigger than your dad' sort of stuff...which usually would end in a fight!

It's entertaining if you stand back a bit but if you get caught up in it it's just annoying.

How did you find out his real name?

Thanks for recommending googling GG etc It's amazing to see that he pretty much winds up the world! Where ever he goes! However it makes very amusing reading. Check out the Gardener's world forum!

He used to use his real email address for the markferon alias on gardenweb.
He confirms he is also known as markferon here (http://www.bigpumpkins.com/MsgBoard/ViewThread.asp?b=12&p=20307) on an account where he is using his real name & confirms his email address here (http://www.bigpumpkins.com/msgboard/ViewThread.asp?b=3&p=150497).
If you wanted to know more about him you could visit a site such as http://www.whitepages.com & find out there is only 1 Matthew Fox in Reistertown, Maryland then you would know his address & phone number too.

well the great thing about those prizes is the fact. I won  the first time grew I wheat.
That sheet did not include the fact I won grand champion for the cleaned wheat.
my problem is I don't like brag. since I prefer to deal with those who disagree or insult me face to face. As for me going to UK in 2012 that will be to sell my book and deal with a few trouble makers I encountered on several boards. As for few other facts I solved how avoid blight on tomatoes using normal varieties not tasteless  blight resistant varieties. But that is another thread.  But real garden fun starts in 60 days. When I start my  tomato  seeds. to bad the whitepage.com entry is out of date

I use a USA forum and TGG is not popular over there either.  They take the mick as well.  Several different names there too.

My husband had a stroke a couple of years ago and one of the effects is that he has lost the ability to understand other peoples points of view.   He has an inflated sense of his self, it is associated with Aphasia which is a lost in language ability.  A large percentage of people with aphasia also seem have inflated sense of their self and an inability to understand where other people are coming from.  These effects are the result of brain damage.  Such damage can be the result of stoke, accident, injury or infection.

It is very difficult to get these symptoms noticed and certainly impossible to get any help with it.  Apart from anything once the brain has been damaged there is not much that can be done about it.

I believe that TGG imay be suffering from a similar problem.

If this is the case the animosity jokes etc will not help becuase he will have no idea of why this is happening.  No idea that he may be upsetting people.  No idea that his posts are inappropriate.  If you tell him there is a problem he will have no ability to understand why are certainly no ability to stop or change.

I can give you an example.  I often sit using the light from the dining area, while my husband watches TV without extra light.  If my husband decides to go to bed he will switch off the light in the dining area, thereby plunging me into the dark.  So I get annoyed.  If I am in a bad mood I will shout at him but it is no use.  He gets upset becuase I have shouted at him but has no concept what so ever of why I am annoyed.

Equally he will change the channel on the TV without warning, even if I am in the middle of watching something.

You would think that after a while he would remember that I get cross if I am suddenly plunged into darkness, but that is not the case.  He remembers me getting cross and thinks I am a cross person, but does not remember not to turn off the light.  So a couple of days later he will do it again.
