Planted my daff bulbs today, Ducet, Sir Winston Churchill and White Lion.
Anyone else had problems getting down to the required depth, almost felt like hiring a road drill? ::)

I'm waiting for a decent downpour to really soak the ground thouroughly.

Yes, I struggled to get the depth. I just bunged them in the best I could.
I also think I may have placed them too close together.
Fingers crossed.
The exact depth isn't going to matter with daffs, they're almost indestructible. I had some tiny neglected bulbs which had been left in pots for I don't know how long. I planted them along the lane, a couple of inches deep among the stones, and after a few years, they gave a really good show last spring.

Now why didn't I think of that Robert? I can remember taking home a daff bulb at Christmas time from school, in the mid '60's, planting so the tip still showed, albeit indoor grown.
First daff bulbs I've planted outdoor for many a year here - just fancied a few newbies :)
Guess we've all been conditioned to plant twice the depth of the bulb now so we can oversow with seed later in the year.

It does matter with some bulbs. If you plant crown imperials too shallow, they won't flower.
