Title: devil's coach horse beetle

just removed one of these from kitchen floor near back door - wish I'd taken a photo but check this out  8)

anyone else seen them this year - as I went to put it onto a piece of kitchen towel it reared up just like it says, like a scorpion but didn't squirt at me or emit any stinky smell  ;D

The only time I have seen one was when we were doing our sons garden up in County Durham. Beautiful looking beetle

my oh laughs at me when i say what this beetle is,we have seen plenty around here at the moment,along with stag beetles and extremely large rain beetles,well they look like rain beetles.
however they are not very friendly,as if i sit on the floor in our lounge at night they always try and nibble my toes, ??? perhaps there trying to tell me something.

put a large one out from the kitchen yesterday, never had them indoors before but always see them round the garden and the lottie.
