Title: Sorghum
Post by: Jayb on September 26, 2009, 10:18:36
Anyone growing this or grown it before. Its putting out seed heads, which are a bit squashed on the poly tunnel roof. I'm not sure if they will pollinate properly as it is late in the season.   Just wondered if it does get to a harvestable state, is possible on a garden scale to extract some juice for syrup?

My thoughts were, cutting the stems into manageable lengths and then whacking it with a rolling pin!

Oh yes there is.

I'm growing sorghum for the first time as well and have the same problem as to how to extract the juice on a small scale. May just opt for the seeds and go into the broom business.

I see you like the "purple weed" Eristic... tell me some part of it is edible and I will relent on my dislike of "bonariensis"... ::)
